    1. [WVKANAWH] Len's Creek Mountain
    2. A while back there was a discussion about Len's Creek, Len's Creek Mountain & a murder that occurred there in the 1920s or 1930s. I recently found the lyrics from the song that my grandfather used to sing re: the tragedy. My aunt quickly typed up the lyrics one day while grandpa was singing. Please forgive my Aunt's lack of punctuation. Len's Creek Mountain Come all you dear people And listen while I tell All of you a story Which you know so well It was early in the spring time In the month of May The birds were singing sweetly And everything was gay When a curious band was traveling To a distant Clarksburg town And by the way of Charleston On Len's Creek Road was found Upon this lovely mountain A filling station stands Where curious men have traveled To lend a helping hand Frank Bowen was the owner A noble hearted man He played a good Samaritan To help his fellow man Frank Bowen left his dear ones Upon that fatal day To motor to the city On business so they say Two men were waiting for him They flagged his car that day They asked him for a favor To help them on their way Into his car he took them They asked him for a ride Marson rode behind him Wilmont by his side As they rode along in silence The midnight dark & gloom Marson took his pistol Put Bowen in his tomb They weep & mourn in sadness To his loving friends so true And to his wife & children He had to bid adieu Dear people all take warning Prepare to meet your God For he is coming According to his word Give your heart to Jesus Repent from all your sins And at the throne of Judgment A crown of life you'll win As always, I look forward to reading your E-mails. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]
