The Kanawha County Courthouse will look up records when the request is made by mail. Unfortunately this is not a first come first serve system. All genealogy request are put on the bottom of the list to be taken care of during slow times. Their main focus is the present and not the past. If your request are not specific, they probably won't search for the information. I know we all get frustrated when we can't do the actual research ourselves and must rely on state and county employees to help but let us not forget that without those employees we would have no records to search.
