Since I've already written the list twice today I'm thinking maybe the 3rd time will be the charm. Does anyone have any information on the following people from the Kanawha and Roane Co areas? Ali Smith b 1805 Russell Co, VA and Sarah Jane King (b 1805) married in Kanawha Co Jan 15, 1845. (was also married to Susannah Isaacs 1859 Wayne Co, WV) Early settler of Kanawha along with Benjamin Wright. Did Ali and Sarah divorce or did she die? Lived in Pike Co, KY before coming to the area. Who were her parents? Where are they buried? Martin Van Buren Smith b 1833 Russell Co, VA (?) d Nov 16, 1911 Roane Co, WV. married Oct 2, 1858 Wayne Co, WV to Elizabeth Elliott d/o John and Sarah Collins Elliott. Elizabeth died between the 1880 and 1900 census but cannot find her death in Roane Co. or any where around there. Martin married Sarah Virginia Lowe (widow of John Page) Sep 30, 1902 (yes he was 70 and she was about 28) in ROane Co. Martin is buried in the Keen #3 Cemetery in Newton, Roane Co. and there is a SE Smith buried next to him and a SV Smith close. Is this SE really Elizabeth? Here is my problem. My g-grandfather's death certificate lists Elizabeth Ellis not Elliott as his mother. John Wesley Smith b Mar 1863 and died July 21, 1937 Calhoun Co, WV. All of Martin's children were born in Roane Co but I can't find Johns. John is in all the census with Martin so he did live with him. I have seen some LDS records (and of course no verification) with a marriage for Martin and Elizabeth Ellis in Richmond, Henrico Co, VA Dec 1867 but I have not been able to find it and I have looked at a ton of microfilm.
