I am looking for information on the marriage and divorce of Helen Virginia PETERS and Fred Staunton GREYBILL Jr. They were married 26 Oct 1940 in Russell, KY. They were both residents of Charleston, WV. I have a copy of the marriage announcement from the Charleston Daily Mail (3 Nov 1940) but know nothing else of this marriage. I know they divorced before 2 Jul 1949 when Fred married Nellie Foster in Nevada. Fred and Nellie are my grandparents, but I am very curious about my grandfather's first marriage, especially whether or not there were any children born. I also wonder why they went to Kentucky to get married. And why the marriage was not announced until after the fact. Also, none of the bride's or my grandfather's family appear to have attended the wedding, as they are not listed among the guests. In a town where the birthday parties and engagement parties thrown for my grandfather and his siblings are listed, why would this one be left until after the fact. It just seems odd to me.
