    1. [WVKANAWH] Charles COCHRAN family
    2. I'm interested in corresponding with someone in West Virginia with connections to the above family or someone that has information they would share with me. Charles COCHRAN was born Nov 7 1825 and died Jul 21 1897. He is buried at Marmet Cemetery on Tommy Sutphin's lot. There is a monument-type stone there that Tommy had moved with Charles' remains when the WVA Turnpike came through the cemetery in the 1950s. Tommy's mother was Martha COCHRAN, a daughter or granddaughter of Charles. Martha was born Feb 1865 in WVA and died on Mar 11 1907 of measles. She is buried at Marmet also, though her burial spot is unknown and unmarked. Martha married David Crockett SUTPHIN either Jun 21 1883 or Jul 30 1886. Tommy was her eighth child or nine that lived to maturity. I have all the information about the SUTPHIN family, but would like to learn more about the COCHRAN family. Tradition says that Charles COCHRAN worked for the BRADFORD family that lived between Chesapeake and Marmet. They were very pleased with his work, so provided the monument-like stone that marks his resting place. Thanks for any information you care to share.
