Hello everyone, I was writing to find out if anyone knows if the courthouse or clerks kept a list of people who were bound to another family? My great grandfather is listed as a bound boy in the 1880's census of Roane County. I have had no luck in locating any of his family and was wondering if there were any types of records kept of the bound people that I could check? Or would anyone know if one had to pay taxes on a bound person? I am grabbing at any little bit of information I can find in hopes this will lead me to my great grandfather's birth parents.
