We have been searching for our MURPHY roots for about 36 years. They have taken us to VA. My Gr. GRANDFATHER SOLOMON E. MURPHY, was born l846 in JACKSON CO. VA. (later WVA.) this county became several other counties. I believe his mother & father left Va. and went to Lee Co. Iowa. His father may have died in Va. or their was a divorce in VA. or Ia. SOLOMON and his mother MARY are on the l856 Lee Co. Iowa Census with CHARLES PARSONS, as son and wife. A large group of PARSONS left the Frozen Camp/Wirth's Bottom area of Va. (now WVA). It is believed that CHARLES's first wife died in VA. or on the way to Iowa. CHARLES & MARY PARSONS moved from Iowa to Revere/Dumas area of Clark Co. Mo. CHARLES d. l865 and is buried in the Prairie Church Cemetery near Revere, Mo. SOLOMON volunteered into the UNION ARMY 8 Aug. l864 CO. H 39TH REG'T MO. INFANTRY at Hannibal, Mo.. I have the induction poster with his name listed. They must have kept up with the news of the day, as by now WVA has now separated from VA. because of the CIVIL WAR. SOLOMON gives his age as l9 yrs. old. He give his place of residence and location of nearest of kin as CROTON, IA.. SOLOMON married MARY BILLS, daughter of PRESSLEY BILLS & MARY DECAMP of Waterloo, Madison Twp. Clark Co., Mo. on 7 April, l867. His mother is listed as MRS. MARY PARSONS. I have a copy of this Marriage License. Children: WILLIAM HENRY MURPHY 21 Mar. 1868 ( my grand father.) OLLIE MAE MURPHY Jan. l870 SOLOMON AND MARY PARSONS death dates and place of burial are not known. We believe SOLOMON died l869 in Kahoka, Clark Co. MO. Perhaps you have a lost MURPHY or a lost MARY? If this has rung a bell, please contact me. I am contacting several counties of WVA & VA. with the same information. Mike Murphy Texas

I know this is a genealogy list, and that is why I feel that this is appropriate. We all enjoy studying our family history and the history of places, lifestyles, and events that go along with it. As you all know, today is the 2nd anniversary of the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Please take a moment to remember all the people who lost their lives on that horrible day, and the families and friends that are missing them. Remember all the people - children, parents, siblings - that are putting their lives on hold to serve our country. Remember the firemen and policemen that risk their lives everyday for your safety. And if you happen to see one today, tell them thank you. They are all a part of someone's family tree. I belong to many lists, so I apologize if you get this more than once. Hi everyone, I'm new to the list and needing info. I'm looking for anyone who has knowledge of the families who lived along Campbell's Creek during the last 20 years of the 18th century. Looking specifically for Campbell, Couch and/or Boone. Possibly Lewis, too. I'm looking for land or tax records, and any marriages between 1782-1799. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Does any one have access to City Directories of Charleston, WV in the early 1920s? I know that Fred Fuller applied to be a Deputy US Marshal in September 1922, and resigned in March 1925. I cannot find him in any 1920 census record. I am wondering when he moved to Charleston. Also do you know of any way of finding out if he was married when he moved there? I have not as yet found a record of his marriage to Frances Kellersmann, would have most likely taken place between 1920 and 1923. Frances was from St. Louis, but there is no record of the marriage in either Missouri or Illinois. Thank you, Margie Fuller
