Am searching for information on the wedding of my grandparents, James Burton Peters & Sadie Alice Stover. I am hunting for the date when & place where their marriage occurred. James Burton Peters, s/o Daniel Peters & Margaret Milam, was born 19 December 1896 in Raleigh County, WV and died in December 1982 in Boone County, WV. James Burton Peters had been previously married to Effie Pettry. James Burton Peters & Effie Pettry tied the knot on 8 October 1918 in Charleston, Kanawha County, WV. There were no children born to their union. (Effie Pettry would later marry Byron J. "Barney" Cooper.) Sadie Alice Stover, d/o Linville Garrison "Tom" Stover & "Jenny" Holstein, was born on 29 April 1909 in Katydid, Cabin Creek, Kanawha County, WV & died in February of 1963 in Boone County, WV. James Burton Peters & Sadie Alice Stover had their first child, James Alvin Peters, on 12 February 1929 in Raleigh County. So we know the marriage happened sometime between 8 October 1918, when James Burton Peters & Effie Pettry were married, & 12 February 1929, when James Burton Peters & Sadie Alice Stover had their 1st child. Thank you in advance for any information or guidance. I look forward to reading your E-mails. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]
Hi all, If you ever need to research for obituaries, marriage records, cemetery records, or early passenger ship records, check out http://www.obitcentral.com/ Bill
I quit! I just don't have anymore time to massage this database right now. I will make whatever corrections you send me until Sunday 10-Dec-2000. (Many folks did send in many additions and corrections in the last few days -- database is up from 15,662 (or, whatever) to 15,914.) You can get the stats and an intro here: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cutlip/database CD-ROM distribution starts 11-Dec-2000. E-mail me (address below) with instructions: how many? sent where? ship by? and a phone number would help in case any questions come up. What do you get for your effort? If it goes as planned: You will get CUTLIP00.GED (= Cutlip 2000 GEDCOM file); you will get a working genealogy program with database in place and bootable ... give it to relatives and tell them to just shove it in their CD-ROM player on their computer -- it (I hope) will auto start. Next year you get more! Rod Bias -- E mailto:[email protected] Rodney L. Bias (602) 438-9202 4648 East Saint Catherine Avenue Phoenix, Arizona 85040-5369 USA

Dear List, Does anyone know if the Chas. General Hospital and the Kanawha Valley Hospital (today the Women and Children's Hospital) keep medical records back to the 1930s or 1950s? Thanks, JB Budy
Hello, is there someone that could look up an obituary for Vernon James b.7/ 17/1911 d. 10/13/1999 in Charleston, WV . I found this info on a webpage. This may be my late grandfather's brother. Any information for the article would be appreciate. Mary Ann
A while back there was a discussion about Len's Creek, Len's Creek Mountain & a murder that occurred there in the 1920s or 1930s. I recently found the lyrics from the song that my grandfather used to sing re: the tragedy. My aunt quickly typed up the lyrics one day while grandpa was singing. Please forgive my Aunt's lack of punctuation. Len's Creek Mountain Come all you dear people And listen while I tell All of you a story Which you know so well It was early in the spring time In the month of May The birds were singing sweetly And everything was gay When a curious band was traveling To a distant Clarksburg town And by the way of Charleston On Len's Creek Road was found Upon this lovely mountain A filling station stands Where curious men have traveled To lend a helping hand Frank Bowen was the owner A noble hearted man He played a good Samaritan To help his fellow man Frank Bowen left his dear ones Upon that fatal day To motor to the city On business so they say Two men were waiting for him They flagged his car that day They asked him for a favor To help them on their way Into his car he took them They asked him for a ride Marson rode behind him Wilmont by his side As they rode along in silence The midnight dark & gloom Marson took his pistol Put Bowen in his tomb They weep & mourn in sadness To his loving friends so true And to his wife & children He had to bid adieu Dear people all take warning Prepare to meet your God For he is coming According to his word Give your heart to Jesus Repent from all your sins And at the throne of Judgment A crown of life you'll win As always, I look forward to reading your E-mails. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]
