    1. Re: [WVKANAWH] Price surname
    2. HI Chris, I've heard Gracie talk of you before and I'm glad I have your e-mail now. If this e-mail from this point on makes no sense, well that's a Price for ya and I'll try again....:) OK, let's get this going. You and Gracie are for the line of Margaret Price and Wiley Cooper. Margaret's parents being Ben & Sallie Price. I myself live in TX. But my dad was born and raised in Brownstown/Marmet, WV. Jane Price Fontalbert also still lives in Marmet and is the daughter of Barnard Meredith Price. This Barnard Price was this son of Benjamin F. Price. Now this here Ben F. Price in the brother of my grandfather, John Clarence Price I. Let me do this: Ben F. Price m. Salinda Brokins/Price children: 1.Charles Price ( which there was a Charles Brokins in Kan. CO. at that time) 2. France Ann Price m J. Vickers 3. Eliza Price whom had Floyd and Leftrich Price out of wedlock and then married T. Snodgrass. ( Floyd and Letfrich were raised by the grandparents, Ben and Sallie Price). 4. Margaret Price whom had several kids with Hiram Morris and then married W. Cooper. ( This is yours and Gracies line right?) 5. Mary Price 6. Meredith P. Price m. Mary Scott. (My Line) 7. Andrew Price This Meredith and Mary Scott children: 1. Benjamin F. Price b- KY. M. Mattie Jane Author there first child was Bernard Meredith Price m Thelma ? Bernard & Thelma Price are the parents of Jane Price Fontalbert that still lives in Marmet, WV. 2. John Clarence Price I. m. Lona Dala Myers, the d/o John Myers and Narcissus Griffith Myers. John And Lona Price's child: John C. Price II. m Margaret Bell VanCamp (this is my parents. Can you tell me where to find that Salinda/Sallie Price was living with the granddaughter Octivia. What County or anything like that? Maybe Jane can go and do some more looking for us..:) If she was living with her granddaughter and you have the area, well just maybe Sallie died there abbots and maybe we can come across a death record for her, and then her parents maybe listed on it....:) am I hoping for a miracle? Emma

Ben's father is doing a good job tell now I think...:) On the Kanawha Co. census for 1850 in house number 716 there is a Bernard Meredith Price age 75 which would make him 20 at the birth of my Ben Price. This Bernard Meredith Price has an Elizabeth age 65 which is maybe his wife. There is also to females. Joyce age 38 and Ruth age 33. Let me let you all know where I'm going with this. Benjamin Price and Sallie had several children and was is named Meredith P. Price whom was married to a Mary Scott in 1866 in Kan Co.. WV. Who also has a son naming him Benjamin F. Price who married Mattie Jane Authur. There First son is named Bernard Meredith Price. So,,, dose anyone have anything on this man? Benjamin F. Price b-1795 SC. and Sallie to: Meredith P. 1. [WVKANAWH] WV Civil War Militia
    2. Recently found a couple of ancestors on the rolls of the Civil War WV Militia. I found John S. Hoffman/Huffman, of Jackson County, listed among the members of the 141st Militia. He was a private in G Company serving under Capt. H. C. Hunter. I found his brother Charles Hoffman/Huffman, of Kanawha, listed among the members of the 153rd Regt. Militia. He was a private in C Company serving under Capt. Wm H. Gibson. Am searching for any information on the Hoffman/Huffman brothers, their Captains, their Companies or their respective units -- the 141st or the 153rd. Thank you in advance for any information. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]

    3. Your best bet is to contact the State Archives in Charleston. If you will look on the Kanawha County page of USGenWeb at www.usgenweb.org , click on state pages, click on WV, then click on Kanawha Co. There is a link to the archives from there. 3. I just recently ( with in the last 2 months sent a copy of the letter you print from ssdi with out the parents and recieved the appl. I was looking for with the parents on it because I didn't have them either. have you tried looking at the letter thats printed cause they claim if you have the ss# it still workd( and it did for me). joann He didn't collect social security. If he had, I'm sure it would have been much easier to find him. ----- Original Message ----- From: "slevoy" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 02, 2001 10:46 AM Subject: [WVKANAWH] William White > n a message dated 10/1/01 12:48:28 AM Eastern Daylight Time, > [email protected] writes: > > > I am > desperately seeking his parents names. > > > > > > Hi, good to hear from you. you should look in the SS Index, you must > list parents names when applying for your card Thanks for writing. > Sandy in Florida > Maybe I'll catch up with my mail when I retire, in 2010

    3. I looked in 1880 Kanawha Co census and no William that age there..Maybe he had two names? do you suppose he named one of his boys by his dad's name?..or there is a family with a 2 yr old son but the boy's name is Vernon and says daughter but that is not a girl's name.. Samuel and Emily White.. there is a Thomas and Relissa(probably Melissa) who has a son Robert age 1 (could be wrong age again) There is a Woodford J and Adeline who have a i yr old son Letrage..could be..I wouldn't use that name either if that would havppen to be William's full name!..so maybe these names could be used in your search..nothing else matches...of abt 37 Whites! That's what I'm running into. We even had a lot of other White's in the family yet no matches. They were married in Boomer, which became Fayette County, but other than that I can't find a single thing on him. It's so odd. We had a lot of other family up around the Quick area at that time also yet no matches. He never collected social security so that doesn't help. He had a son named Willie born in the early 1900's. I can't find hide nor hair of him anywhere.

Sandy in Florida Maybe I'll catch up with my mail when I retire, in 2010! I'm not sure what the above means..but there are too many William White's to narrow one down to order SS information.

    3. William was born February 26, 1878 in Quick, WV and married Cora Alice Morris. Their children were: Benjamin, Hettie, Pearl, James Willie, Beverly Jack, Lydia Florence, Maggie Ellen, and Goldie. I am desperately seeking his parents names. I have written to the state with complete dates and they say they need his parents names to look up his records (?). Since he was born and died in Quick, maybe someone has information on other Whites in that area. Someone found his death certificate for Kanawha County but it doesn't list any parents. Any help would be life-long appreciated!!

    3. I'm still trying to find the family of Charles C. Thomas of Kanawha County. All I know about him is his wife, Emma M. Gibson. They married in Charleston on 27 July 1874. Does anyone know someone who is doing research on the Thomases from Kanawha County? On the marriage record, Thomas said he was born in Jersy City, NJ. He was 35 on the marriage record. Also, does anyone recognize the name W.M. Mullins? He's the man listed as performing the ceremony. -- Cara Showers Anchorage, Alaska [email protected] Volunteer of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness at http://raogk.rootsweb.com
