Verla is my grandmother and Carl my great Uncle. The information you have about Etta Dye is incorrect. She married Carl & Verla's father, Cornelius Van Runser on 07 Jan 1936, Mary Etta was a widow and this was Cornelius' second marriage. Obituary: Mrs. Mary Etta Dye, 61, of RD. 1, North Lawrence, died Thursday evening at the Massillon City Hospital Mrs. Runser is survived by her husband, Neal; two sons, Frank Dye of Canal Fulton and Harry Dye of Warren; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Turner of Oceanside, California; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Emerson Krites of North Lawrence and Mrs. Verla Franklin of Warren; a stepson, Carl Runser at home; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The funeral will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the North Lawrence Evangelical United Brethren Church. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. The body is at the Swigart funeral home in Canal Fulton where friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In Etta's will she left Cornelius her estate until he died: Item 2: I give, devise and bequeath to Cornelius Van Runser, an estate for life in all of my property, both real and personal. Said life tenant to make all repairs and pay all taxes during such life tenancy. Item 3: Upon the termination of the life estate in my real property of Cornelius Van Runser, I give, devise and bequeath all of my real property in fee simple and forever to Frank Erwin Dye, Esther Violet Turner and Harry Clair Dye and/or their children by blood, share and share alike. Carl was married twice, to sisters, first to Betty Irene Rawson in 1945 and they had a son, Jeff; than to her sister, Jane Rawson, although I haven't looked for the dates yet. Verla moved to Phoenix after her husband William died and lived independently until a few years before her death. The farmhouse owned by Cornelius and where he and Etta lived is now occupied by Jeff Runser, but apparently most of the farm was lost, I believe it was repossessed, there's only about 12 acres left.
