He was born July 4, 1922 at Indiana, PA, a son of the late George and Sarah McFarland Hopkins. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. A member of American Legion Post 107, Ripley. He was a Field Supervisor for several Drilling Companies and a member of the West Virginia Independent Oil and Gas Association. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Dorothy Jean Sargent Hopkins. A son Rickard Leroy Hopkins of Buckhannon. A daughter Nancy Hopkins Lattea of Camden. A step son Eugene Newsome of Given. A brother Allen Hopkins of Deerfield, Ohio. Three Sisters, Ada Manners of New Brighton, PA, Margaret Boucher of Big Run PA. And Betty Lohman of Jacksonville, FL In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence "Red" Hopkins who listed as MIA , US Navy World War II. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 5, 2000 at the Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Jerry Lee Sargent and Darrell Tackett officiating. Burial with Military graveside Rites by Sandyville V.F.W Post 3488 and American Legion Post 107 will be at the Big Pine Cemetery, Given. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 Pm Wednesday at the funeral home. .
