I have John Barnett as the son of William Barnett b. 1775 in Botetourt Co., Virginia and d.6/6/1857 in Mason County. William was married twice. First to Mary McGuire ( who is John's mother) and second to Elizabeth "Betsy" Allen. John's mother, Mary McGuire, was the daughter of John McGuire and Elizabeth Cottle. John Barnett b. 1806 d. 1880 married Mary Mahala See b.1815 d. 1882. Mary Mahala was the daughter of William See and Sarah Pruitt.They had the following children: Caroline, Daisy, Joshua, Mahala Jane, Samuel, Sarah, Mary A., Wm., James T., Robert C., Nancy, Columbus and Augusta. John Barnett and his family were primarily from Mason County but I know that one of his son, James T., married in Jackson County, West Virginia.
