He was born on August 10, 1933, in Copen, WV, son of the late Homer and Zenna Straley Wilson. Leon was an Electrical Engineer, retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ravenswood; a past president and current member of Green Hills Country Club. He loved to muskie fish in the Kanawha River. He was the manager of the CDI office in Millwood, WV. He served in the U.S. Army. Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Gloria Jankowski Wilson, Ravenswood; children, Susan A. Mays and husband Carey, Dallas, GA; and Paul S. Wilson, Millwood; grandchildren, Genevieve Mays and Brooke Wilson; sisters, Lois Walker, Lebanon, OH; and Lavoo Crutchfield, Clarksburg, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. A private family service was held on Monday, March 7, 2005, at Copen Cemetery, Copen, WV, with Reverend Rankin Roach officiating. Friends visited Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, on Sunday, March 6, 2005, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a funeral service at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kanawha Hospice, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064-3199.
