The Chase family lived on Mill Creek two miles below Ripley. The father was Lawrence Chase, who was born in 1833, and died in 1907. He married a Hogsett. Their children, Benjamin Chase, a color bearer, was killed in the Confederate Army. He married Elizabeth Wetzel. Jonathan Chase married a sister of G.W. Sayre.
