Hello Listers, I have just received from the WV Division of Culture & History a copy of the WV Adjutant General's record card for Charley P. Cox of Gay, WV for service during World War I. This is my Grandfather and I was wondering where or if there is somewhere else that I may get more information on his army papers. This paper shows that he was inducted at Ripley, WV on 9-5-1918 and was honorably discharged on demobilization April 10, 1919. Does anyone know what that means? Then it says - In view of occupation he was, on date of discharge, reported 0 per cent disabled. The second sentence makes it sound as if he was not injured or hurt in any way. So to me they seem to contradict each other. Organizations served in - 155 Dep Brig to Disch. So it appears that he served his entire time in Ripley? In the 155 Dep Brig to his time of Discharge. So if some of you military folk can help me interpret this I would appreciate it. Does anyone know where this division was located, or where he would have been assigned if he were inducted in Ripley, WV in 1918? There must be other papers that give more on his background. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch. Pat Oh I forgot it does show his Army Serial Number as 4,632,583. Is there a way I can use this number to get more information?
Hello Pat, I will try to answer part of your questions. First I think that you need to get a copy of NARA-180 to apply for his full service records. I believe that you can download this form . Info on this form can be found at: http://www.nara.gov/regional/mprsf180.html I see no contradictions in the information that you provided. I read it that he was discharged at the end of the war (on demobilization) with no listed disabilities.
