Some say it was Matthew Thornton, but I see no proof for that. Can't get John's son to match up with who we think is Joseph 1832 who married a Martha Elizabeth a. 1835. We are exausted..Any help appreciated...Most thse Thorntons in Arkansas, Georgia. and the above in Oklahoma..they are Cherokee
