James Sherman Cobb, 83, of Ravenswood, Jackson County, WV, formerly of Gay, departed this life May 31, 2001, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, WV, following an extended illness. He was born March 5, 1918, at Kenna, WV, a son of the late Tom H. and Sylvia O. (Casto) Cobb. He was a retired concrete finisher for Union Carbide and a farmer. He was a Protestant. He is survived by a son, Thomas J. Cobb of Ravenswood; brothers, John Cobb of Staats Mill and Russell Cobb of Goldtown; step-grandson, Ricky Corob. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lela J. Cobb. Funeral services will be Monday, June 4, 2001--1:00 pm, at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. William McMorran officiating. Burial will follow at the Parsons Cemetery, Gay, WV. Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm, Sunday, at the funeral home.
