Doris Lee (Carmichael) Riggs, 58, of Sandyville, Jackson County, WV, departed this life June 25, 2001, at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, WV, following an extended illness. She was born July 31, 1942, at Ravenswood, WV, a daughter of Naomi (VanKirk) Carmichael of Ravenswood and the late Joe Carmichael. She was a homemaker and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Ripley. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Devon Riggs; sons, Kevin Riggs, Travis Riggs and Robert Riggs, all of Sandyville; daughters, Karen Johnson of Sandyville and Deanna Shaffer of Ripley; brothers, Larry Carmichael of Cottageville, Steven Carmichael, Jerry Carmichael and Mitchell Carmichael, all of Ravenswood; grandchildren, Jennifer Riggs, Christopher Johnson and Juanita Riggs, all of Sandyville and Eric Wells of Ripley. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Riggs, and a brother, Robert Carmichael. Graveside service and burial will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Independence Cemetery, Sandyville, with Elder, Jerry Jones officiating. There will be no visitation.
