    2. Stewart Eugene Sayre, 81, of Evans, Jackson County, WV, departed this life June 26, 2001, at CAMC, Memorial Division, Charleston, WV, following a brief illness. He was born June 22, 1920, at Evans, WV, a son of the late Elmer and Mary Jane (Stewart) Sayre. He was a former truck driver for Vanadium and Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. and retired from the WV Department of Highways, with 23 years service. He was a farmer and a cattleman and served on the board of directors of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. He attended Mt. Moriah Church of Evans, where he taught Sunday school. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Casto Sayre; sons, Stewart Reynolds (Judy Boggess) Sayre of Ravenswood, David Eugene (Carolyn Moday) Sayre of St. Paris, OH, Stephen Thomas (Liz Taylor) Sayre of Evans; daughters, Judith Ann (Charles) Bunner of Ripley, Valeria Jeanette (Ray) McVay of Ripley, Clara Jane (Dale) Carney of Kenna, Letitia Gayle "Tuts" (Woodrow) Parsons of Ravenswood, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Wilmer Sayre, Clayton Sayre, Woodrow Sayre, and 3 sisters, Willard Casto, Josephine Hartley and Opal Reynolds. Funeral service will be Friday, June 29, 2001--11:00 am, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with the Rev. Gerald Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in Otterbein Cemetery, Evans. Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm, Thursday, at the funeral home.
