In looking through a listing of the wills in Jackson Co, I see there is an Inventory of Personal Property of William G Ayres, Deceased, appraised 14 May 1848. Next is the Inventory of Money, Bonds, Notes & Accounts Received by Robert McGriffin belinging to the Estate of William G Ayres, which reads like the census or Who's Who of the county at the time! No kidding, there were Notes on close to 100 people and accounts with about 80, many names being on both lists. Who was this man? I looked in Jackson County Past and Present and there are only 3 mentions of the name Ayres. Thanks, Betty
