Joe "Little Joe" Lewis Gorrell, age 66, of Sandyville, WV, died June 18, 2001 at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, WV. He was born in Sandyville, WV, on February 12, 1935, a son of the late Chancey Howard and Lottie McCauley Gorrell. He was a mechanic at Carl E. Smith, Inc., Sandyville, and he was an avid square dancer at the Fairplain jamboree. He is survived by his wife, Helen Purkey Gorrell, Sandyville; daughter, Tammy and Rick Irvin, Cottageville, WV; sons, Tim and Beth Gorrell, Lynn Haven, FLA, and Chris Gorrell, Sandyville; a grandson, Timmy Gorrell; brothers, Bill and Donna Gorrell, Sandyville, Jim and Louise Gorrell, Ravenswood, WV, Jack and Pauline Gorrell, Silverton, WV, Bob and June Gorrell, Akron, Ohio, and Hal and Betty Gorrell, Akron, Ohio; sisters, Margaret and Bob Shaw, Akron, Ohio, Olive and Bob Yohey, Akron, Ohio, and Dorothy Cole, Ripley, WV. Services were held on Thursday, June 21, 2001, at 1:00 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Morrison officiating. Burial followed in Independence Cemetery, Sandvyille. Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 20, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
