Roger Lee Williams, 54, of Ravenswood, WV, departed this life, June 12, 2001, at his home following an extended illness. He was born May 16, 1947, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Paul and Ruth (Gorrell) Williams. He was a graduate of Ravenswood High School, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a member of the Jackson County Marine Corps League #8, Detachment 1065. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union #5668. He attended the Independent United Brethren Church, Ravenswood, and the Mount Tabor Church, Leon He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Delores Ann (Sayre) Williams; son, Ronald Williams of Ravenswood; daughter, Carla (Mike) Jones of Parkersburg; brother, Mike McCroskey of Parkersburg; grandsons, Justin Jones and Jacob Jones; stepmother, Vivian Williams of Ravenswood; stepfather, Clarence Gene Nelson of Jacksonville, FL, godmother, Jackie Poston of Ravenswood. He was also preceded in death by sister, Brenda Baker. Service will be Friday, June 15, 2001--2 pm at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with the Rev. Anton Hager officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery, Evans, WV, with military honors by VFW post #6669, Ravenswood. Visitation 6-9 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
