John Alfred Cox, 70, of Ravenswood, Jackson County, WV, departed this life April 26, 2001, at CAMC, General Division, Charleston, WV, following a brief illness. He was born September 29, 1930, at Mahan, WV, a son of the late George and Stella (Lafferty) Cox. He was a former coal miner and was retired from Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation, with 30 years service as a fork life operator in the finishing department. He was a member of United Steelworkers of America, Local No. 5668. He is survived by his wife, Debby Lee (Folden) Cox; daughter, Becky (Frank) Winter of Fairplain; son, John Cox of Hartford, WV; sisters, Delores Woodrum of Tucson, AZ, Wanda Woodrum of Hansford, WV, Lorraine McCann of Tazewell, VA; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clarice, and a daughter, Sue Ann. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 28, 2001--2:00 pm, at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Darrell Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 9 pm, Friday, at the funeral home.
