They were the sons of Jacob Duckett ANKROM and Elizabeth CLARK. A full list of their descendants (that is, as much as I have) can be found at the link appearing at the end of this posting. There are many descendants from these 2 brothers, some of whom are still living in the Jackson County area. Any and all additions, updates, and corrections will be greatly appreciated. William Clark ANKRUM was the 5th child of Jacob & Elizabeth ANKROM. William had moved to Jackson Co., [West] Virginia by 1839 with his 2nd wife, Ruth GWINN, and children as William's eldest child, Nancy Caroline, (by his 1st wife, Elizabeth Wells) married Jackson SMITH there on October 17, 1839. William had 4 children with his 1st wife, Elizabeth WELLS, prior to her death. 1) Nancy Caroline b. 1820 2) Alexander P. b. 1823 3) John N. b. 1824 4) Duckett Wells b. 1825 William then married Ruth GWINN (aka GUIN) in 1828 and had at least 6 more children. 1) James N. b. 1830 2) Amanda J. b. 1831 3) Richard Gwinn b. 1834 4) Catherine V. b. 1839 <--Gap in birthdates. Were there more children? 5) Margaret A. b. 1841 6) William Russell b. 1843. In "Ankrom Genealogy" by Donsel Ankrom, Ametha b. 1859 is listed as a 7th child. However, Ruth GWINN would have been 49 at the time of this birth, so it is more likely that Ametha was a grandchild/ Richard D(uckett) ANKRUM was the 8th child of Jacob & Elizabeth ANKROM. Richard married Mary Ann DAVIS in 1815. They had at least 10 children. 1) John S. b. 1816 2) Margaret b. 1822 <-- Gap in birthdates. The spelling of ANKRUM is the one most commonly found in Jackson Co. records.
