    3. Well, while we're on Andersons, can we try to sort them out a little? I have 2 and I think they are aunt and niece, but no proof. William Anderson and Nancy McCampbell were married in Rockbridge Co in 1779 and they died in Botetourt Co, he in 1821 or 1822, she in 1828. In his will, he named daughter Sallie Anderson, and sons Samuel Stuart Barber Anderson, Alexander Anderson and William Anderson. Nancy's will names daughter Martha Rhodes and Sarah Skidmore and names Archibald Skidmore her executor. The marriage bonds show William as the father of both girls. Sarah and Archie are my GGG grandparents. Martha married Mathias Rhodes. Alexander married Catherine Rhodes, Mathias's niece. All three moved to Jackson Co and all three appear on the 1840 Jackson Co census, as well as a William and a Samuel, both age 20-30. This William would have been Alexander's son - who was the Samuel? Another son or a totally unrelated Anderson? Martha and Mathias had no children, but in 1840 there is a male age 10-15 living with them. Sarah is living next door to Martha in 1840, Archie has recently died and she is alone with 8 children. The listing on the 1840 census for Alexander shows: 3m 10-15 1m 15-20 1m 20-30 1m 40-50 1f 5-10 1f 15-20 2f 20-30 1f 60-70 I think maybe two of these were daughter Margaret (f 20-30) and her new husband John McDade Casto (m 20-30). Was another daughter Mary "Polly" who married John's brother Edward? Help? Thanks, Betty
