Helen was born on February 12, 1919, in Spencer, WV, a daughter of the late Tracy J. and Beatrice Hively Short. She was a homemaker and a member of the Grasslick Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Connie Naylor and husband Kent, Atwater, Ohio; Dorothy Taylor and husband Jim, Nitro, WV; and Faye Smith and husband Ike, Ravenswood; son, James Davis and wife Faye, Shawnee, Oklahoma; sisters, Markine Pierson and Bonnie Seymoure, Spencer, WV; Hazel Tawney, Newton, WV; brothers, Emil Short, Valley Fork, WV; and Charles Short, St. Albans, WV; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Harry B. Davis; an infant daughter; a granddaughter, Lisa Smith Miller; and brothers, Donald and Ed Short. Services were held on Wednesday, August 10, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Reverend Herman Robinson officiating. Burial followed in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lanes, WV.
