He was born on October 4, 1925, in Sandyville, WV, a son of the late Albert and Grace Hinzman Carmichael. He was a member of the Milhoan Ridge Baptist Church and was a past superintendent and deacon there. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and he retired from Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. in Ravenswood after 30 years service. Ralph will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Ruth Hale Carmichael, after 55 years of marriage. Surviving is his wife, Ruth Hale Carmichael, Murraysville; sister, Pearl Kessinger, Burning Springs, WV; brothers, Joe Carmichael and his wife Wanda, Parkersburg; and Glen Carmichael and his wife Phyllis, Streetsboro, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Carmichael, Medina, WV; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Dale, Robert, Fred and Charles Carmichael; 4 sisters, Delma Wilcox, Hazel Carmichael, Maxine Emerick, and Margaret Ann Dooley. Services were held on Sunday, September 4, 2005, at 12:30 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Pastor Terry Taylor, and Ronald Stephens officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg, WV.
