She was born on April 15, 1944, in Morgantown, WV, a daughter of the late Ralph Parker and Gladys May Johnson Grimes. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Fellowship of Elizabeth, and a past employee of a sportswear factory in Silverton, WV. She loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and loved spending time with family and friends. Surviving is her husband of 44 years, Dallas Staten Giles, Elizabeth; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Gary Watson, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jarred and Shanel Watson, Coty Giles, and A. J. Allender; sister, Shirley Blosser, Morgantown; 3 brothers, Melvin Grimes, Jerry Grimes and wife Phyllis, all of Morgantown; and Larry Grimes and wife Linda, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Betty Grimes, New Jersey; brother-in-law, Dewayne Giles and wife Romelda, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dallas Staten Giles, Jr.; 2 brothers, Gary Lynn and James Carl Grimes; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Giles. Services were held on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Reverend John Watkins officiating. Burial followed in Ravenswood Cemetery.
