She was born on December 30, 1936, in Roane County, WV, a daughter of the late Ray and Imogene Marie Watson Alvis. She was a homemaker, and a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ravenswood. She retired from Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. in Ravenswood after 23 years service. Surviving is her sister, Rosita Morris and husband Charles, Ravenswood; brothers, Garland Alvis and wife Loretta, Spencer, WV; Danny Alvis and wife Rosalie, Parkersburg, WV; George Alvis and wife Gladys, Parkersburg; Roger Alvis and wife Margaret, Spencer; and Donald Alvis and wife Peggy, Spencer; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ravenswood on Friday, April 29, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., with Father George Manjadi officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Parkersburg, WV. Friends visited with the family at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, on Thursday, April 28, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, 600 Crooks Avenue, Ravenswood, WV 26164.
