He was born on January 30, 1937, in Doddridge County, WV, a son of the late Arley Everett and Opal Mae Currey. He was retired from Finished Carbon at Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. in Ravenswood. He was an avid baseball fan, and he enjoyed being an outdoorsman, and he loved to hunt. Surviving is his wife, Ruth Gould Currey, Ravenswood; daughters, Charlene Murchison, Texas; Darlene Montgomery and husband Skylar, Mineral Wells, WV; and Debbie Stone and husband David, Liverpool, WV; sons, Jeff Currey and wife Donna, Millwood, WV; Kevin Currey and wife Wendey, Ravenswood; and Mark Currey and wife Debbie, Sandyville; stepchildren, Vickie Mayes, Belpre, OH; Tii Swisher and husband Raymond, Ripley; and Karen Morris and husband Greg, Cincinnati, OH; brothers, Arol Currey, Texas; Hugh Currey, Moorefield, WV; and Bob Currey, Salem, WV; sister, Darlene Marks, Kentucky; 22 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends in Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Charlene Hutson; brother, Richard Currey; granddaughter, Theresa Stone; and his first wife Edith I. Currey, who was the mother of Charlene, Darlene, Debbie, Jeff, Kevin and Mark. Services were held on Thursday, April 28, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Ryan L. Currey officiating. Burial followed in Independence Cemetery, Sandyville.
