He was born on April 22, 1933, in Ravenswood, WV, son of the late Chancey Howard "Rube" Gorrell and Lottie McCauley Gorrell. He was employed as a truck driver with Carl E. Smith Pipeline. Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Donna Faye Waggoner Gorrell, Sandyville; son, Larry Allen Gorrell and his wife Sally Ann, Ripley, WV; daughter, Robin Louise Conley and her husband Scott, Sandyville; grandson, Cody Bare; step-granddaughter, Megan Conley; 4 brothers, Bob Gorrell, Akron, OH; Jack Gorrell, Silverton, WV; Jim Gorrell, Ravenswood; and Hal Gorrell, Tallmadge, OH; 3 sisters, Dorothy Cole, Ripley; Margaret Shaw, Canton, OH; and Olive Yohey, Tallmadge, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joe. Services were held on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Pastor Steve Rhoades officiating. Burial followed in Independence Cemetery, Sandyville, WV. Friends visited the funeral home on Wednesday, April 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ravenswood, Cottageville and Silverton Fire Departments.
