He was born on January 14, 1916, in Jackson County, WV, son of the late Harley C. and Artie Reed Milhoan. Gerald was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ravenswood. Gerald's grandfather, Swiger, founded the church. He was also a member of the Ashton Lodge #12, AF & AM, York Rite of Masonry, and a former member of the Ravenswood Lions Club. He was employed at Boso & Ritchie Construction in Ravenswood, and retired as a maintenance mechanic at Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. in Ravenswood. Surviving is his wife, Frances Burgess Milhoan, Ravenswood; sons, Gerry Milhoan, Ripley, WV; Charles Milhoan, Vienna, WV; and Phillip Milhoan, Jackson, MI; stepchildren, Thomas Cottrill, Xenia, OH; and Carolyn L. Terrell, Magnolia, TX; 1 brother, Carl Milhoan, Belleville, WV; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 4 step- grandchildren; and 14 step-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother and 1 sister. Services were held on Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ravenswood, with Reverend Kenneth Miller officiating. Burial followed in Ravenswood Cemetery with a graveside Masonic service provided by Ashton Lodge #12, Ravenswood. Friends visited Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, on Wednesday, March 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church General Fund, 215 Ann Street, Ravenswood, WV 26164. Envelopes are provided by the funeral home.
