He was born May 19, 1928, in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Lawrence Edelman and Bessie (Randolph) Evans. He retired as Staff Sergeant from the US Air Force. He was also in the Navy, Merchant Marines and Air National Guard, having served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was retired from the finishing department of Ravenswood Aluminum after 28 years, and was a member of United Steelworkers of America, Local No. 5668. He was a member of Cottageville Lodge No. 54, A.F.&A.M., Nemesis Temple Shrine of Parkersburg, and American Legion Post No. 140 of New Haven. He attended Ravenswood Church of God. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Geraldine (Spaulding) Casto; son, Dale Casto of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Lesa Hendricks of Ripley and Renea Pursley of Ravenswood; step-children, Patricia Blair of Cottageville, Shirley Patterson of Gallipolis, OH, Paula Blankenship of Buffalo, WV, Brenda Stone of Cottageville and Allen Castor of Greensboro, NC; brother, Harold Eugene “Sarge” Evans of Ravenswood; 6 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Gary Kent. Funeral services was on Thursday, February 10, 200511:00 a.m., at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Carl Mann officiating. Entombment followed in Jackson County Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cottageville, with military and Masonic rites. Friends called from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
