Nancy Caroline Ankrum's parents were William Clark Ankrum and Elizabeth Wells (married Abt. 1819) and had siblings from this marriage Alexander P. Ankrum (b. 1823), John N. Ankrum (b. 1824), and Duckett Wells Ankrum (1825). William Clark Ankrum was married twice and his second wife was Ruth E. Gwinn (married 05 May 1828). From this marriage the children (1/2 brother or sister to Nancy) were James N. Ankrum (b. ca. 1830), Richard Gwinn Ankrum (Oct 1834), Amanda J. Ankrum (b. 25 Feb 1837), Catherine V. Ankrum (b. 1839), Margaret A. Ankrum (b. 1841), and William Russell Ankrum (b. 1843). Amanda married Samuel D. Casto the son of George R. Casto and Susanna Dewees. John C.
