He was born October 12, 1946, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of Lillian (Hess) Utt of Sandyville and the late A. D. (Bud) Utt. He was a graduate of Gilmore High School, Class of 1965, and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He worked as an operating engineer for IUOE Local 132 since 1970. He was a member of the Drift Run United Methodist Church at Sandyville, VFW Post 3488 of Sandyville and the Ravenswood American Legion Post. Don was very active throughout his life with Boy Scout Troop 441, serving both as a past scoutmaster and assistant scoutmaster. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jane (Morgan) Utt, a son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Renee Utt of Cameron, NC, a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Wayne Hinzman of Sandyville, nieces and nephews, Scott Hinzman of Concord, NC, Leanne Hinzman of Sandyville, WV, Rhita and Shawn Garton of Pinch, WV, Allison Ludwig of Huntington, WV, Trey Moody of Little River, SC, Tyler Ludwig of Ripley, WV, and Janelle Moody of Little River, SC, great nieces, Sydney, Alison and Madeleine, great nephew, Robert, several aunts, uncles, cousins and a special puppy, Roscoe. Funeral services were on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 1:00 p.m., at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Annette Carper officiating. Burial followed in Meadowdale Cemetery, Liverpool, with military honors provided by Sandyville VFW Post 4388. Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be made to Troop 441 Boy Scouts of America, in care of Rod McDonald, Route 3, Box 30, Sandyville, WV, 25275. `
