She was born on March 20, 1937, in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Henry J. and Bertha Bates Sullivan. Ruth graduated from Ravenswood High School with the Class of 1956. She was a member of the Coleman Chapel United Methodist Church in Murraysville, and a member of the Ravenswood VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6669. She was a self-employed seamstress and she made numerous Ravenswood Chamber Singers and Rangerettes costumes. She was also an instructor at West Virginia University Extension, where she taught tailoring. Surviving is her husband of 49 years, Robert Bonar, Ravenswood; daughters, Joyce Hill and husband Randy, Evans, WV; and Sharon Pease, Clayton, NC; sons, James Bonar and wife Drema; and Don Bonar and wife Judy, all of Ripley, WV; grandchildren, Amy and husband R. D.; Robert, Brieanna, Katrina, Alex, Jacob, Brian and wife Andrea, Jessica, Ashly, Kevin, Eric, and Jacob; great grandchildren, Adrien, William and Kierstin; sister, Helen Fletcher and husband Wayne, Murraysville; and brothers, Denny Sullivan and wife Connie, Murraysville; and Larry Sullivan and wife Irene, Belleville, WV. Services were held on Sunday, May 22, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Reverend Darrell Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Ravenswood Cemetery.
