Richard, 86, of Portland, Ohio, departed this life on May 11, 2005, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on August 25, 1918, in Silverton, WV, son of the late Floyd and Lucy Ward Richard. He was a Field Representative and Plant Manager for the United Dairy Company. He was an avid farmer for many years; a member of the Tupper Plains VFW Post 9053, and Middleport American Legion Fenney-Bennett Post 128. He was also a member of the Round Table at the Ravenswood McDonalds. He served in the US Army in World War II. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Genevieve "Genny" Nuzum Richard, of the home; children, Robert Richard, of the home; Jack Richard, Long Bottom, Ohio; Barbara McLaughlin and husband John, Tennessee; sister, Elsie Bosworth, Ripley, WV; 7 grandchildren, Woody, Janice, Leslie, Joey, Hollie, David, and Joelle; 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lester Richard; 1 brother, Carl; and 1 sister, Mable. Services were held on Sunday, May 15, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood; with Reverend Lawrence Conger, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Letart Falls Cemetery with military rites provided by Tupper Plains VFW Post 9053.
