From the Book "Immigrants to Pennsylvania 1694-1891, edited by Michael Tepper, Baltimore, MD. Genealogical Publishing Co., 1979, we find on page 194 the following: "5 Dec 1772 George Kessel last of Rotterdam, servant of Ludwig Kuhn of Philadelphia, assisted by him to Charles Shoemaker." George Kissell and Catherine Boyer married in Shenandoah Co., VA., 9 Jun 1773, bond by Jacob Holman. On 22 Mar 1826, Jackson County, George Jr. married Delilah Casto, born 1804, died 15 May 1872, daughter of William and L. Casto, (Jackson Co. Death Records). George settled on Upper Parchment on what was then called the "Abbie Wolfe" farm on Wolfe Creek. George was a farmer and stonemason. The following children are from a Bible page: (1) Elizabeth Kessel, born 15 Jan 1827 (2) Levi Kessel, born 14 April 1830; (3) Margaret Kessel, born 15 Nov 1832; (4) Jacob Kessel, born 5 April 1836; (5) Elmore Kessel, born 13 Feb 1838; (6) George Casto Kessel, born 14 Mar 1841; (7) William Kessel, born 10 May 1843; (8) Abraham Kessel, born 16 Oct 1845; (9) Rebecca Jane Kessel born 20 Sep 1847; (10) Pary Claton Kessel, b 28 Feb 1851.
