Hi The "Curly Herdman" you are speaking of was probably the son of Wall and Mirla Miller Herdman. His given name may have been Troy. I know that he and one of his brother-in-laws played music all over the country. I think they may have played on the radio station WWVA (Wheeling, WVA) and WNAR in Landsdale, PA.
