Deed Book 12, page 232 of the Jackson County records show the transfer by Hannah Timberlake (a.k.a. Hannah Sayre) on Nobember 18, 1857, of her dower rights in the land "near Millcreek" (shown under Ezekiel Sayre) for $250 to Joseph Sayre. Deed Book 15, page 175, shows on December 27, 1864, the release to Joseph Sayre, for $25 of her dower rights in three acres on Mill Creek. This release is signed "Hannah Timberlake" and was acknowledged in Mason County, West Virgini, February 5, 1866. The Census records of 1860 and 1870 show that she was living in Mason County. No death records can be found for Pleasant Timberlake. Hannah seems to have spent at least a part of her time in the home of her son William Henry Sayre. She died Septembe! r 13, 1878, and is buried in the Kimberling a.k.a. Sayre Cemetery on Thirteen Mile Creek in Mason County, West Virginia. Background history: In the year 1834, Hannah, with her husband, Ezekiel Sayre, and family, left Jackson County and traveled by wagon to Watseka, Iroquois County, Illinois, there he died on July 9, 1835. After his affairs were settled, (with the help of John Harpold, who had married her husband's cousin,) she, with her family, returned to her former home in West Virginia. I don't have a date for Hannah Gilman's birth. Her first child was born 4 March 1821. The source of this information is from my Grandmother, Mary Blanche Combs Williamson, the daughter of Lanora A. Sayre Combs. Additions and corrections would be appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
