Long, 88, of Ravenswood, WV, formerly of Deep Creek, Maryland, departed this life on June 10, 2005, at the home of her daughter in Ravenswood. She was born on February 22, 1917, in McHenry, MD, daughter of the late John Edgar and Sadie Sloan Edgar. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Deep Creek Lake Fireman's Auxiliary. Surviving is her daughter, Wilma Brown-Fourney, Ravenswood; son, Carroll Long and wife Billie Jean, Morgantown, MD; brother, John Edgar and wife Elizabeth, Accident, MD; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Long; daughter, Carolyn Martin; an infant son; and several brothers and sisters. Services were held on Monday, June 13, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home in Oakland, MD, with Reverend Don Wilson officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens in Oakland, MD. Friends visited the family at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood on Sunday, June 12, 2005, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, at Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kanawha Hospice, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064-3199. Envelopes provided by the funeral home.
