He was born on February 3, 1936, in Adrian, Michigan, son of the late Seward Chandler and Esther Dickerson Deming. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Pete was a Paramedic in West Virginia and a Mail Carrier in Michigan. He was the first to receive the Phoenix award as an E.M.T. in West Virginia, and he was a Hall of Famer at the Wood County Airport. He and his wife Emelee traveled as ministers and singers known as the Family Four Quartet for about 7 years, along with his sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Bobby Threet. He also sang with the Deming Family Singers. He was retired from Camden-Clark Hospital, Parkersburg, WV. Surviving is his wife, Emelee Balis Deming, Ravenswood; daughters, Debbye L. Ward, Ravenswood; and Brook Lipps and husband Tink, Racine, Ohio; sons, Shawn Deming and wife Gretchen, Belt, Montana; Devere Deming and wife Venise, Burnham, Maine; and Mike Adkins, Syracuse, Ohio; grandchildren, Ryan Gordon Ward, Jonathan Ryan Deming, Johanna Deming Travaille, Emelee Manhattan Deming, Lindsay Michaela Deming, Shawn Livingston (Stonie) Deming II, Heather Dawn, Brandon Heath, Lexus Marie Deming, and Journey Lynn Deming; sister, Wilma Threet, Windfield, PA; sister-in-law, Betty Deming, Hudson, MI; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ely Deming, and a sister, Ruth Sallows. Services were held on Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Independent Fellowship Church in Ravenswood, with Pastor Mike Adkins, Pastor Allen Stewart, B.C. Threet and Danny Lauffer officiating. Burial followed in the Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends visited Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, on Monday, May 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friends may email condolences to the funeral home for the Deming family at [email protected]
