Carter, 68, of Ravenswood, WV, departed this life on July 8, 2005, in Wirt County, WV. He was born on June 12, 1937, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, son of the late Thomas Carter and Clara Burton Carter. He was retired from the City of Ravenswood and the West Virginia Department of Highways. Tom was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood, where he served as trustee and served on various committees. He was a member of Asthon Lodge AF & AM and was devoted to Habitat for Humanity, where he helped provide three homes for families in Jackson County. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. Surviving is his wife, Carol Wade Carter, Ravenswood; son, Jason Carter and wife Lisa, Walkersville, MD; daughters, Lesa R. Carter, Tampa, FL; Rebecca S. Parrish and husband Reginald, Raleigh, NC; and grandchildren, Thomas Andrew and Sarah Ann Carter, Walkersville, MD. Services were held on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood, with Reverend Richard Cottrill officiating. Burial followed in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends visited the family at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, on Monday, July 11, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please email your condolences to the Carter family at [email protected]
