"Bill" Darnold, 73, of Ravenswood, WV, departed this life on June 19, 2005, at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, WV. Bill was born on May 17, 1932, in Cairo, WV, a son of the late Gayford and Faye Alkire Darnold. He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He lived in Silverton for 42 years and held the position of Assistant Fire Chief for 35 years with the Silverton Volunteer Fire Department, and he restored a 1942 Ford Fire Engine. He retired after 36 years service at Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. as a laborer. Surviving is his son, Mark William Darnold, Tualatin, Oregon; brother, Daniel Darnold and his wfie Wanda, Parkersburg; sister, Lois Cunningham and her husband Jack, Cairo, WV; 4 nephews, 1 niece; and 2 step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry. Services were held on Friday, June 24, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood. Burial followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Cairo, WV. Friends visited the funeral home on Thursday, June 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friends may express their condolences to the Darnold family at [email protected]
