He was born on November 1, 1924, in Jackson County, WV, son of the late George W. and Mary Young Braden. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley, and was a small business owner in Jackson County, Braden Plumbing and Heating, for more than 40 years. Surviving is his wife, Betty McCauley Braden, Ripley, WV; sons, James Ray Braden, Knoxville, TN; and George W. Braden, Jr., Lancaster, Ohio; daughter, Pam Braden, Ripley; sister, Ruby Bowman, Ripley; granddaughters, Laura Braden Dlugacz, Alexandria, VA; and Susan Lovingood, Madisonville, TN; and grandson, Mark Edward Braden, Knoxville, TN. Services were held on Sunday, July 3, 2005, at 6:00 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley, with Reverend Charles Hicks officiating. Burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery in Ripley. Friends visited the family at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, on Saturday, July 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Foundation, Inc., Jackson County Center Fund.
