I thought that this was one that I have seen discussed. I did report it as a scam. When I search I receive a message that the message is not found on any board but clicking the link is still bringing it up. I got the date of her death from the family bible where David wrote in when she died. The same with all the births of the children. Too bad he didn't write the mothers names along with them, he had another child with Catherine born in 1903, but he wrote that in along with all the other children so if you didn't know about it it would seem the children all had the same mother. I'm thinking that it was David that wrote everything in because all the writing is the same excluding his death and the oldest sons death. We have been looking for her for a long time. The genealogy on rootsweb is probably what we have put there from the info as we know it. I have found the 1880 census which lists a Christine as David McKitricks wife with the two boys, John William and Jobe P. She was from Kentucky and her parents from Germany. And the 1990 census the only thing I can find is the veteran census which only lists David. By 1900 Agusta was already dead and he was married to Catherine Miller. Agusta died in 1897 and he married Catherine 1898. It is very confusing. I have also found that there are 3 different Sweetwater's in Texas one has an indian name and the other has a mexican name. But they all mean Sweetwater, named after creeks with sweet water. None of them were founded at the time of Agusta's birth, so by saying that she was from Sweetwater Texas it could have been because they may have lived near a creek. Any help in this area is very much appreciated and will be check! ed on very thoroughly. Juanita Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. But I found a bit in ROOTSWEB down the page in world connect after plugging in David Mckitrick. See bottom of the first page for David. Says Agusta was the first wife, Sarah Bennett was second , then an unknown was third. Says Augusta's name was REEB ( if this spelling is correct this may have been throwing off your search). Anyway it says Agusta was born in Texas Oct 19, 1859...very interesting. Page indicated she and David had John W. 1877, Jobe P. 1880, Nancy L. 1885, Fred D. 1886, Frank F., 1892, and Mary D. 1896 then Agusta passing 21 Mar 1897 in Ohio. David died 13 Sep, 1923 in New Marshfield, Athens Co. Ohio, buried in the Marshfield Cemetery. If Rootsweb is correct then it appears that all the kids were Agustas'. Athens county, Ohio appears to have a pretty good gen page, but yes it pales somewhat next to the gold standard that the Jackson Co. troops put together. I'll continue to look as the Texas c! onnection from that time period has intrigued me. Good luck, Jim Fletcher Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am related to Heneritta Fitzhugh Barr, she probably is a so so so so great aunt of mine. Also, I like the Civil War era very much and it is a very interesting era to study as well write about. I remember my grandmother telling me that in the Fitzhugh family that the boys were named Henry for Henry Fitzhugh and the girls were named Heneritta for Henry Fitzhugh. Charlotte, who is in charge of the Fitzhugh genealogy, emailed me and she told me that a researcher in England has concluded that William Fitzhugh, the immigrant, was married to a lady, who was named, Elizabeth, shortly before he sailed for Virginia, and no one knows what really happened, but it is very possible that the same Elizabeth later on married a Mr. Thorton, that is very interesting. I got my Kemp line back to Daniel L. Kemp, who was born in Virginia in 1801 and he was married on August 29, 1825 in Fauquier County, Virginia to Letticia Roach, that is how far back I got it. I found out that Sarah Letticia Kemp, who was the wife of George Nicholas Fitzhugh, had two brothers, Daniel L. Kemp and Thomas B. Kemp, and they were both veterans of the Civil War. Really the Civil War was fought for states rights not too free the slaves, and I think that President Lincoln was really a scapegoat for the abolionists. Really the Empanciation Proclamation was really a joke, and gave the former slaves really nothing. BUt the SOUTH HAS RISEN AGAIN, look who is the stronger in the country.
