I'm trying to connect ALL the pioneer families and using the 1850 census as the baseline, more or less. I think I have about 75% of that census of Jackson Co connected, but the work has gone far beyond that. I have the 1840 and 1850 JC census transcribed, as well as two of John House's book and something like 58,000 people, including pictures and inscriptions/pictures of several Jackson county cemeteries on the following sites, but sadly, there are a lot of families that are not well represented: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bbriggs www.wvpioneers.com Corrections, additions, pictures, etc are always welcome! (Billy) Fields and Jane Ann (Buckley). They came to the now Jackson County, WV area in the early 1850's from Russell County, Virginia. Three of their son's married CASTO sisters. John F.M. Fields, born in July 1845 and died after 1910 married Rebecca Jane Casto who was born on Sep 28, 1862 and died on Aug 23, 1938. James Riley Fields born in Oct 1850 and died Nov 9, 1934 married Matilda Casto who was born in Oct of 1851 and died on Feb 4, 1940. Andrew J. Fields born on Jan 21, 1855 and died on Nov 22, 1939 married Elizabeth Jane Casto who was born Mar 17, 1864 and died Feb 21, 1938. Those three Casto sister's were daughter's of John McDade Casto and Margaret (Peggy) Anderson. It's the most numerous name there. I have 1747 of them in my database, and I've only scratched the surface. Anna Casto was the dauther ofIsaac S Casto and Nancy A Hall. Benjamin Anderson was the son of George Alexander Anderson and Cynthia Casto. Dorcas Casto, born 11/7/1919, daughter of George B Casto and Margaret E "Maggie" Carl married 5/6/1939, Charles Harrison Anderson, born 3/10/1915 in Ohio, son of Albert A & Maude Anderson. As for Caroline Minerva "Dollie" Casto: Jackson County Marriages O.C. Sayre, 21, Jackson, Jackson C.M. Casto, 21, Jackson, Jackson 11/30/1911 Caroline Minerva "Dollie" appears in the Jackson County Birth Records as Minerva C, born 8/17/1890 to Wm. & H.M. Casto, Ripley Dist. farmer. It's very common to have the names transposed. It's also common to not find a birth record, but doubtful that there were two born on the same day with similar names. Her parents were William Richard Casto, born 6 Sept 1856, Jackson Co, WV, died 30 Jan 1923 Jackson Co, married 1 Feb 1877 to Hannah Margaret Little, born 8 Nov 1859. died 3 3 Jan 1939. Dover, OH?)? They have a daughter in the Jackson Co. Death Records who died in 1940. Wow, I just looked at the 1900 census for Jackson Co., WV for Garoline Minerva "Dollie" CASTO, and I can't believe how many Castos are there! It just have taken quite some effort for you to straighten them out! Thanks for offering to share all that work. I still couldn't figure out who her parents were just by looking at the census. Her nickname was Dollie and she was born 17 Aug 1890 and married Otho C. SAYRE about 1912. I don't have the date.
