There are still several people listed in the local telephone directory with the LANE surname. I do not know any of those listed. I knew Milton (Pappy) LANE for many years. Back in the 1950s I had the job of shoveling eight ton of coal from one of my father's dump trucks into the Lane's coal house each fall. Milton and my father (Harley SHOCKEY) grew up in the Wilding area and Milton lived in the old LANE farmhouse all his life as far as I know. The LANE house was across the road from the store building that once operated in Wilding and the farm laid up the valley behind the house. I also knew Curry and Currey families. On of the two Curry farms was at the mouth of Beatty's Run near Crow Summit. The other was out the ridge to the east between Sandyville and Ripley. 1. [WVJACKSO] WIlliam Pernall COX husband of Sarah Jane MYERS
    2. Since the list seems rather slow I'll post a note about one of my brick walls: WIlliam Pernall COX husband of Sarah Jane MYERS. Would like to share information with those having information on any of these people. Looking for any information to document the birth, parents and siblings of William Pernell Cox. I found this obit at the Fairmont State College library --- Press, Fairmont, WV, Thursday Evening, March 29, 1900, Obituary - William P. Cox, better known as "Pernell" Cox, died at his home in the First ward, Saturday. The funeral was held Sunday, services being conducted by Rev. Bennett, of the Christian Church, with interment at the Maple Grove cemetery. "Pernell," as he was familiarly known, had resided in the First ward for a number of years and the old citizens of the town say he was near 70 year of age. For some time past he had been suffering from diseases incident to old age. I have not been able to locate any information on Rev. Bennett or records for the Christian Church. The death certificate indicates his age as 72, therefore born abt. 1828. Per the death certificate the funeral director was E. Musgrave and death occurred March 25, 1900, I have not been able to locate any records for this funeral home. The census record below indicates he was born in WV and his parents in Delaware and his children as - 1880 Census, Palatine, Marion, West Virginia Family History Library Film 1255407 Page 362 Wm. My brick wall is my 3Xs great grandfather, Lawrence Lane who was one of the pioneers in that area. It appears that children of my Lawrence Lane married into some of these families. John Lane m. a Curry, George Lane m. a Stanley, Jacob Lane m. a Daugherty. I found a death certificate for John A. Furget b. 6 Sep 1850 and died 24 Jul 1927 in Mason Co., WV - buried at Mt. Hebrum Cem. His wife's name was Julian or Julia - she predeceased him. He is on the 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 Census, Mason Co. - He is shown with parents in 1870 and 1880 - birthplace shown as Germany. His death certificate shows his birthplace as PA - but the 1870 Census shows place of birth VA - as all the children. So, my guess is that the family came here around 1850 - but finding them on a census - with so many ways to spell Furget - could prove difficult. I could not find anything in 1860. The 1900 Mason Co. Census, Cologne Dist., lists - Jacob J. Furget b. Oct 1862, wife Mary E. - children Harvey R. b. Mar 1892, Floyd H. b. March 1895. Peter P. Sayre, Sarah M. - and family. John W. Mary E. Maria S. Peter K. and Lucien M. Next family for John A. Furget - wife absent - daughters Annie L., Nancy C., Lena B., James F. Ivy M. Jo! hn R., Alma G. As far as cousins - I located a marriage record for Harry Raymond Furget who married a Ida McK. Rimmey on 6 Nov 1913. A Nancy C. who married a Samuel T. Nuckle - info: John A. Furget - 23 Mar 1905, Mason Co. I also found a death certificate for Peter P. Sayre - buried at Antioch Cem. I can try and email some of these to you as well as the census (s) This isn't a direct line for me - although I'm from Mason Co. and I do have a Sayre connection. My grandmother, Mary Combs Williamson had a picture dated abt. 1905 that she was with a male and a female that she identified as their last name as Furget - I just moved and cannot find the picture or a lot of my records. Nothing on the ladies came up. I was able to find on the death certificates that William Shields and his Dad , Hiram were both buried in the Mount Flower Cemetery, at Leon , Mason Co. near Mt. Alto, Jackson Co. Good possibility Martha is buried with William there. The graves inventory for Mt. Flower is still a work in progress according to the WV CEMETERY Preservation site. Maybe some reader has an inventory that the site doesn't have yet to at least determine where and when Martha was buried. Mary Eva (Sayre) Beckwith and husband Glen E. Beckwith, are buried in Blain Manorial at Cottageville. They are my grandparents. Yes, P. P. Sayre and his first wife are buried at Antioch. (My Great Grandparents.) My mother was one of the Beckwith girls from out Cow Run way. I have the Sayre Book, and know that family history. I have the book on the Beckwith's, know that family history. I'm searching for John and Mary Furget of Bavaria, and their children that lived near Cow Run on the edge of the two county lines, Mason and Jackson. Sarah Margaret (Furget) that married Peter P. Sayre is the ony one I have in my records. I tried looking at Mason County records and they don't seem to be there either. Soooo, I'm now at a loss as what happened to Sarah Margery brother's, the Furget boy's? Many thanks for trying to help. ..........ms. grace Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
