Pioneers on the Jackson gen page to get a b. date of 1814 in VA for James. Took that to LATTER DAY SAINTS FAMILY SEARCH and found that Rachel was born 1816 in VA, married in 1832. Says her name was Rachel James. Sorry but I could take her back no further. James' older brother Silas was my gr-gr-gr grandfather. A lot of the early Slaughters are buried at Falling Water Cem near Belgrove but James and Rachel do not appear to be. I'll scan around for them. There is an obit for their Granddaughter Margaret Casto in April 1942 on the county gen page. Jim Fletcher Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It's great that you know of your connections to the old Inn and the family members. I've also been lucky to find out that people I knew as figure are now evident as ancestors. I believe there are often connections reaching from the ancestors back to old homes, businesses, and cemeteries. I do feel that these are positive and benevolent and not at all creepy. Next time I go through PA to see my sister in MD I'll try to work in the old tavern. I sometimes feel goofy telling people stuff they already know, but I greatly enjoy the hunt. Grandfather Peter is buried in Ravenswood. He also had an infant daughter die as a premature child in 1922, buried in Ravenswood Cem. His wife Stella died in 1930. I'll check the R'wwod cem listing for her tomorrow. He then married Mary Anderson and lost another little daughter 4 days old in 1937, Ravenswood. On the Latter Day Saints site I located a Perry Lowe in the soc. security death section from WV 1874- 1963 who sounds right time wise but no address was provided. Ravenswood is my home town and I'm quite interested so I'll keep looking around and let you know if anything is found. He is the only child of Pete Bradley Lowe Jr. who died in a house fire in 1951 in Parkersburg, WV, when Pete (III) was 3 years old and then his mother remarried and he doesnt know anything about his father's family (absolutely nothing)! Therefore, he knows nothing of his grandfather Peter Bradley Lowe (born about 1876) except that he has his name. I came across your post just today and hoped that your e-mail address was still good as I was excited to find something and someone to link Pete to his family. I have just started to search the genealogy records and found that the Levi Lowe that you have identified may be the same as Richard Levi Lowe that I found on the death record of Peter Bradley Lowe (DOD 8/18/50 in WV)as his father. However, Mary Blankenship is listed as the mother per the death record of Peter Bradley Lowe. Could you write me back and confirm if I have found a relative of Peter Bradley Lowe? Thank you so much. Bonnett 1803-1881. Let's call him Jacob II whose Dad was Jacob I. One's Dad was also a Sam. Jacob II had a grandpa named Sam , just mentioned, a brother named Sam, and a son named Sam, born 1825. The Bonnetts were apparently in Pa for at least a while. But consider this: a son messing up his dad or grandpa's place of birth is not unusual . My great Uncle, as an informant goofed up his grandmother's name on his Dad's death certificate which gave me quite a few headaches in my own search. Sam's grandma , Martha Hughes also has a son named after her Uncle Elias Hughes . These names repeat and repeat as this was the custom back then. If your hair isn't frizzed straight out by now please try this. Go to Rootsweb, punch in Elizabeth Ledsome, scroll down to world connect. You'll find 18 entries. Study them, especially the ones with the most stuff entered. You will find a variant of her Mom's name repeating in he! r child's name. If you want I can sketch out a chart to perhaps demo the flow. I'm pretty comfortable with the flow of family names in the counties involved here and the way the families migrated due to what was happening in the state at various times. I totally sense that you are part Hughes. Please check out his exploits on one of the search engines or a site called HACKERS CREEK PIONEER DESCENDANTS or perhaps something in the Lewis Co. page. Learn about Jesse Hughes , feel the DNA and you will never back down from a situation or person ever again. I'm pumped! By the way Jackson Co. was formed in 1831 from parts of neighboring Wood, Mason, and Kanawha. Good luck, Fletch Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you combine that info with info on the two Jacobs ( use their death dates ) available in LATTER DAY SAINTS FAMILY SEARCH you should get a fairly strong confidence factor. Jacob I appears to have married Martha Hughes daughter of Jesse Hughes the noted frontier guy. Sam was their grandson. He married Elizabeth Ledsome. I am a descendant of Jesse Hughes' sister Deborah who married a Radcliff. Suspect we're way distant cousins. Only thing I found as a discrepancy was Jacob I is listed as being born 1762 vs. 1771 but the death dates of 1847 jive. Jacob I also is listed as having a Sam as his Dad. The geography seems to go lewis Co. to Wirt to Wood which seems logical. If you see anything out of whack here let me know and I'll try to solidify it in another manner.
