    3. Laura, I have her as Virenn Ernestine "Tennie" Anderson m. Daniel Floyd Sayre. But this does not fit the DF Sayre that died in Marietta. I will check that out, there is a lot of Sayres around. Jane Boucher. their death records in Jackson Co. her death certificate list her as Virena Sayre , daughter of Samuel Anderson and Victoria Edmonds, this Victoria is Sophia Jane Vicoria Edmonds d/o Peter and Susannah Edmonds. She died 6/2/1924 age 61. in Jackson Co. D. F. Sayres death record in Jackson Co. WV list him as dying 9/12/1936 a widower age 75y 3m 7d., son of Elijah and Mary Jane Hunt Sayre. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Laura Anderson" <kalkowski@mindspring.com> To: <wvjackso@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 25, 2008 8:48 AM Subject: [WVJACKSO] Capt. ( and both sons of a different Moses Slaughter than b. in 1712. . But that takes a lot of prooving.) On THIS 1850 census of Jackson CO. Jesse Slaughter was 87 and his wife Mary 67, has anyone considered Jesse Slaughter may have had a first wife, and or family?. I take issue with some information quoted by some & attributed to the Jackson Gen Page, Rootsweb & LDS sites, although I have not personally checked these entries out for myself. Specifically the impossibility that the above referenced Jesse SLAUGHTER (b/b 1763) could have been the child of Moses & Nancy SLAUGHTER (nee PARSONS). Knowing that Nancy's birth year is given as 1775 per the 1850 Jackson Co, VA(WV) Census when she was present in the household of her son Abraham SLAUGHTER is proof enough for me. As to Nancy's first husband's (Moses SLAUGHTER) year of birth I have no information. That said, it seems unlikely to me that Nancy PARSONS (b. 1775) would have married a Moses SLAUGHTER (b. 1712), a difference in ages of 63 years. I believe that Nancy & Moses's son, Abraham SLAUGHTER (b/b 1797), quite possibly could have been the ONLY child born to them since Moses & N! ancy married on 5 October 1796 Randolph Co., VA(WV). This same Nancy SLAUGHTER(widow?)married Jacob BAKER in January 1800 Randolph County; 3 years and 3 months after her marriage to Moses. I have both of the above referenced marriage records. Jacob & Nancy BAKER were my paternal 4x great-grandparents. I welcome any further discussion or thoughts on these points. Author: ploverrover Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.westvirginia.counties.jackson/6652.2.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Regarding Jesse and Abraham being brothers: gets extremely confusing...the Jackson gen page, Rootsweb and LDS site list Jesse as born 1763 and the son of Moses and Nancy Parsons Slaughter. This Moses born C. 1712. Abraham listed as born 1797 with parents Moses and Nancy. Makes us think Jesse and Abraham are brothers. But could brothers be born 34 years apart? Unlikely but wildly possible. Could Moses and Nancy have had Abraham in their mid 80's ? No. This begs the question; Is Moses 1712 a grandfather and did his missing son have coincidentally married a Nancy also? Nancy Parsons is listed as the child of Joe Parsons and Matilda Motts, with Joe born in 1755. Obviously he could not be Jesse's grandpa at age of 8. This could give a guy a headache. I remember getting one a few years ago over this issue, but I must have blocked it out like an old days blind date that went awry. I'm sorry to point out questions with no answers. Hopefully, we can hone in on the Slau! ghter and Parsons family concentrating on the mid 1700's. I will hit the Va sites for this as I'm pretty sure they didn't get near Jackson Co. til around 1800.
